Launching our Almaty point of presence

May 22, 2026 · Network Engineering

We’re excited to announce a new CacheNova edge location in Almaty, Kazakhstan — our first dedicated point of presence in Central Asia, reachable at kz.cachenova.com.

Why Almaty

Until now, requests from Central Asia were served from our European and Middle Eastern PoPs, adding 60–120 ms of round-trip time for many users. By placing capacity directly in the region, we cut median latency for local traffic to under 30 ms and reduce cross-border transit on every cache miss.

What’s deployed

The Almaty edge runs the full CacheNova stack: TLS 1.3 termination, tiered caching, HTTP/3 and the regional API gateway. It joins the anycast network, so existing zones automatically benefit — there’s nothing to configure.

Early numbers

In the first week we saw cache hit ratios climb above 90% for regional zones and a noticeable improvement in p95 for image and API workloads. We’ll keep tuning peering as traffic grows.
